Madison East-West Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Planning Study, Accessibility Focus Group Invitation
The City of Madison is seeking community input for the Madison East-West BRT Planning Study. Public input gathered during this planning study will provide critical support for the City of Madison’s application for federal funding to assist with final design and construction. Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is a high-capacity, sustainable public transit system that uses features such as BRT-only lanes, traffic signal priority, and enhanced transit stations to provide fast and cost-effective service.
The public engagement consultant for this project, Urban Assets, is organizing a focus group to collect input from diverse individuals throughout the public process. The Accessibility Focus Group is designed to engage residents with a variety of disabilities in providing feedback on concerns, desires and preferences to inform development of the Madison East-West BRT, including feedback on the current draft route and station location options. Access to Independence invites you to participate in this focus group; your input and participation would be invaluable to the success of the project!
The focus group will be a one-hour conversation, held at Access to Independence. It is NOT necessary for you to be familiar with bus rapid transit or city planning processes to participate. This conversation will be an opportunity to provide feedback on barriers to using public transit for people with disabilities; ways to successfully design BRT stations and buses; and preferences for route options downtown and on the west side.
